Synopsis of R.I.P.D.:
R.I.P.D.: Rest in Peace Department is inspired by the 1999 comic by Peter M. Lenkov, featuring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds alongside Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Stéphanie Szostak, and Marisa Miller. The narrative follows two law enforcement agents (Bridges and Reynolds) as they track down and capture monstrous entities known as “Deados,” who disguise themselves as regular humans to evade their ultimate judgment in the afterlife. As they delve deeper, the agents uncover a malevolent scheme aimed at disrupting the cosmic balance and eradicating all life, compelling them to join forces to thwart it.
A direct-to-video sequel, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned, was released in 2022. This prequel to the 2013 film stars Jeffrey Donovan and Rachel Adedeji and will be available on Peacock starting January 1, 2025.
